First post! First post!

blog3Blah big deal. So what is this blog going to be about? Some BBQ of course, some recipes, some reviews, some opinions that are my own, some BS and some fun.

Now keep in mind I am not a writer which will be self evident. If it wasn’t for spell check I would have no spelling at all. Isn’t that in a blues song? I digress. So if anybody out there has any ideas to report me to the grammar or spelling police you can go ahead. I’ve been running from that law for quite some time.

Before I go lets take a quick look at the word barbecue:

bar⋅be⋅cue [bahr-bi-kyoo]  noun, verb, -cued, -cuing.

1. pieces of beef, fowl, fish, or the like, roasted over an open hearth, esp. when basted in a barbecue sauce.

The like? Have you ever barbecued “The like”? I have once, tasted like chicken. “esp. when basted in a barbecue sauce” hold me back mama! Them is fightin words. So if I take a log of pecan like in that photo, brush with “barbecue sauce” it will become barbecue? Won’t need a toothpick for sure.

2. a framework, as a grill or a spit, or a fireplace for cooking meat or vegetables over an open fire.

A framework for cooking vegetables is called a barbecue? Good God what will they think of next? Salad already chopped in a bag? Oh yeah they already do.

3. a dressed steer, lamb, or other animal, roasted whole.

Okay now we are getting somewhere here. A sharp dressed steer roasted whole would be a pretty site. Would this be a black tie affair?

4. a meal, usually in the open air and often as a political or social gathering, at which meats are roasted over an open hearth or pit.

If you want to call a bunch of guys sitting around around a fire roasting their weiners, drinking PBR and telling fart jokes a barbecue I’m good with that!

I was lucky enough to catch the left overs from the oil island BBQ. Great stuff, I keep checking for your next event I could patronize. You guys ROCK! It must be the pecan Ü

Your food is the best BBQ around for a very reasonable price. I especially love the smoked turkey, beans, and coleslaw. I know a bunch of people are probably contacting you guys for their holiday parties, so I will try and get to you before they do.
    Truly,
    A devoted fan
